OpenVPN Tunneling with Viscosity on OSX

Step #1: Download and install Viscosity

Viscosity is an OpenVPN client for Mac OS X. It costs $9 to purchase, however its ability to easily setup a VPN connection is fantastic. You can download it here. If you prefer a free client, Tunnelblick is available.

Step #2: Download Tunnelr configuration bundle

Login to the client portal and navigate to 'Your Account' > 'View Connection Details'. Click 'Download the certificates'. Be sure to note your username! (you'll need it later)

Step #3: Launch Viscosity

Execute the Viscosity application. A dialog box should open that looks like the above picture. Enter your OSX username and password to continue (Viscosity needs root access to setup the tunnel device!).

Step #4: Open preferences

Select 'Preferences...' from the icon in the top dock

Step #5: Import the connection

Tell Viscosity you'll specify the files by selecting 'Import Connection > From File...' (be sure to have the zip that you downloaded from our site unzipped!)

Step #6: Select the configuration file

Navigate to the directory that contains the contents of the zip file, and select 'openvpn.conf'. Click 'Open'.

Step #7: Accept the changes

Viscosity should prompt you informing you that the configuration was imported successfully.

Step #8: Connect to our server

At the top right corner, you should see a small globe. Select it and click 'Connect openvpn'

Step #9: Authenticate with our server

Lastly, enter your username (the one you wrote down in step #2!) and password (the same password you use to login to the client portal)

Step #10: Success!

You'll know everything went OK when the Viscosity icon at the top of your screen stops spinning. Any and all traffic will automatically flow through the tunnel! If you'd like to verify, visit GeoIPTool.com
