Windows 8 OpenVPN with Viscosity

How to setup OpenVPN using Viscosity on Windows 8

Step 1

After installing the Viscosity client, log into the Tunnelr portal, select OpenVPN in the dashboard and click on 'Download Bundle'.

Step 2

Extract the downloaded bundle to an accessible/easily findable folder.

Step 3

Open the folder containing the bundle files and double click the 'tunnelr-user' file.



Note: 'tunnelr-user' will have your Tunnelr username in the filename.

Click OK.

Right click the Viscosity icon the in taskbar and select 'Preferences'.

Select the 'Connections' tab and click on 'edit'.

Click on the 'Networking' tab and click on the 'Send all traffic over VPN connection'; click OK.

Close configuration window; right click on taskbar Viscosity icon; click 'Connect'.

Step 9

You will be prompted for your Tunnelr username and password; click 'OK'.

Step 10

Upon a successful connection, you should see a small popup informing you of the new established connetion and your new (private) IP address.

You can view additional details about the OpenVPN session by right clicking the taskbar Viscosity icon and clicking 'Details'.

Step 12

Here you can see your active connection details.

Verify that you are actively sending all traffic over the VPN by visiting an IP detection site such as 'https://www.tunnelr.com/ip'.
